KEY STAGE 2. HISTORICAL COSTUMED WORKSHOPS
Victorians
Victorians
A costumed insight into the lives of the rich and poor during Victorian times. We meet Arthur Fairfax, a mill owner, and Tommy Wilkes, an ex-mill worker, who asks the children to help him do some washing using a washboard, and we see the world from their respective points of view. We also meet Obadiah Pitt, the strict school master. He teaches us some lessons... Beware! Two children have the opportunity to write on slates using slate pencils. Finally, we meet Billy Sweeny, a loveable music hall entertainer. Billy teaches us some Victorian songs and tells us a few jokes. Children will be given the opportunity to dress up in costume and to join in with the Victorian songs. They will also be able to handle some Victorian artefacts.
